Field Service Technician - Fiber Laser (Remote-US)
United States
Apply for this job

About the company

An established provider of metal fabrication equipment with its own installation and service organization. Fiber laser installations are growing fast, and the company is adding field service capacity to keep up. The team is small and direct. Technicians work straight with the people who run the business, not through layers of management.

The role

Install, commission and service fiber laser cutting systems at customer sites across the US, with international trips to Mexico, Canada and occasionally Asia. You will train operators, troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and control issues, and solve problems on site with limited information. Technicians are cross-trained over time on other equipment as they show interest.

Schedule and travel

Typically two weeks in the field, one week at home.

Laser installs are scheduled Monday to Thursday, so you are home Friday through Sunday.

Some installs run longer. Flexibility is needed, and it is made up to you.

Valid passport, or the ability to get one quickly.

What you will do

Install and commission 2D fiber laser systems, and tube or 3D lasers where you have the background.

Diagnose and repair laser, motion, electrical and control issues using schematics and on-site problem solving.

Train customer operators and maintenance staff.

Document service work and feed field insight back to the team.

Who this is for

Hands-on experience installing and servicing fiber laser cutting systems, at an OEM or a distributor.

Experience on HSG, Han's, Senfeng or similar platforms is ideal. TRUMPF, Amada, Bystronic, Mazak Optonics and other major OEM backgrounds are a strong fit.

Tube laser or 5-axis laser experience is a plus. Cross-trained on 2D and 3D is ideal.

Strong electrical and schematic reading skills. Military technical training is a plus.

A critical thinker who likes solving problems nobody wrote a manual for.

Comfortable in a straight-talking, blue-collar team, and professional in front of customers.

Compensation and benefits

Salary $60,000 to $120,000 based on experience. Higher for an exact platform match.

Guaranteed 10% raise every year, written into your employment agreement.

Multi-year employment agreement that reflects the company's investment in your training.

Medical, dental and vision. 401(k) with 4% match. 11 to 12 paid holidays plus PTO that grows with tenure.

Why techs move here

More time at home than at the big OEMs, where many techs are gone Monday to Monday. Room to grow into new technology instead of being boxed in as "the laser guy." Travel that covers the whole country and beyond. A small team that respects your time and your judgment.
