THE ROLE

Working service manager responsible for leading all field service, installation, repair, spare parts sales, and service contract operations for the U.S. business. This is a hands-on leadership role -- not a delegator position. The right person owns outcomes, is technically credible, and is comfortable troubleshooting equipment issues directly with customers by phone to avoid unnecessary dispatches. The team currently has 3-4 direct technicians with expected growth to 5+ within 12 months, plus third-party regional service partners nationally.


RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Lead and manage a team of 3-4 field service technicians plus third-party regional service partners

•    Oversee all U.S. field service activity: scheduling, installations, repairs, and preventive maintenance

•    Troubleshoot equipment issues directly with customers by phone to minimize unnecessary service dispatches

•    Quote service and installation work; ensure prompt invoicing and monitor department profitability

•    Manage spare parts sales and service contract renewals

•    Maintain CRM and service records; ensure ISO 9000, Lean, and 5S compliance

•    Coordinate with sales team on equipment leads identified during service activity (lead commission available)

•    Report directly to Engineering/Operations leadership


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

•    Base salary: $80,000 -- $90,000 depending on experience

•    Annual bonus: up to 5% of base salary tied to company profitability

•    Pooled service commission: team earns commission on eligible spare parts sales and service upsells

•    Lead commission: earn a split when you surface a new machine opportunity for the sales team

IDEAL CANDIDATE

•    Hands-on technical background in compressed air systems, industrial gas equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, or closely adjacent mechanical systems

•    People leadership experience -- managing a technical or field service team directly

•    Located in the Buffalo / Western New York area or willing to relocate -- on-site position, not remote

•    Self-starter who takes initiative and owns problems without waiting to be directed

•    Humble and honest with customers -- able to say 'I don't know' and find the answer rather than guess

•    Background of interest: compressed air equipment service, industrial gas systems, biomedical equipment service, military technical service, or similar hands-on mechanical service leadership
