ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
A fast-growing CNC machine tool distributorship with exclusive rights to a leading Japanese Swiss-type precision turning platform. Part of one of the largest machine tool distribution networks in North America. Applications Engineers are described internally as the glue of the organization -- they touch sales, service, and customers simultaneously and are among the most critical hires the company makes.
THE ROLE
Field-based technical role responsible for supporting sales activities and ensuring successful machine integration for customers across Eastern PA, Southern NJ, and Maryland. The AE works closely with the Sales Executive to win new business and with the Technical Account Manager post-sale to ensure customer satisfaction, machine performance, and ongoing productivity.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conduct customer facility visits for process analysis, application reviews, and new part development consultations
• Program and operate Swiss-type CNC machines (Fanuc-based controls) for demonstrations and proof-of-concept projects
• Develop turnkey equipment proposals including tooling, automation, and process integration
• Deliver on-site machine training for setup, operation, and best practices
• Support machine installations and commissioning in collaboration with the service team
• Write engineering reports and proposal documentation for prospective customers
• Attend trade shows and customer technical events
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
• Base salary: $65,000 -- $125,000 depending on experience level
• Car allowance: $800/month plus gas card (or federal mileage rate)

IDEAL CANDIDATE
• Minimum 3 years hands-on CNC machine tool experience -- Swiss/sliding headstock experience strongly preferred (Citizen, Star, Tornos, Nexturn, Hanwha, or similar)
• Fanuc controls knowledge required; CAD/CAM software experience a plus
• Strong customer-facing communication skills -- this role is highly visible with shop managers, process engineers, and business owners
• Top shop technician or machinist ready to move to the customer-facing side of the industry
• Located in Philadelphia metro area, South Jersey, or Eastern PA
• Willing to travel within the territory regularly
